i fell off a cruise ship

This is what I do when I'm called off of work at the last minute.

I am clearly growing delirious with boredom.

This reminds me that I think Dougie should add a super crazy high Hindorff to her routine.

That's a delightful headless double layout dismount.

So, I think I may have found this one Barbie on Ebay that I have spent the last year or so hunting for.  This is the fucking MESSIAH of gymnastics Barbies.  It's not actually a gymnastics Barbie, per say, but it is absolutely built for Spanny Tampson Barbie gymnastics glory.  This isn't your 1996 Olympic Gymnast Barbie with the blonde hair and flat feet with ribbons.  Oh no.  This is something else.  The auction is over in five days, so here's hoping my paltry bid wins.  And if it does, WATCH OUT INTERNET!  Vintage gymnastics Barbie is coming for you.

  3. I have that one! With the uneven bars. I think it's a Stacy? Some sort of Barbie little sister.

  4. There is a new figure-skating Barbie that has bendable everything that you might want to check out :) she will fit in well with your others with the exception of her skating dress- she could be the Gymnastics Gala Performance Barbie ;D

  5. @Anon 1:12AM LINK PLEASE!!!!! My criteria is this: bendy legs, bendy waist, really love bendy upper back, wrists, and feet. Although soft pointy feet are acceptable as well.

  6. I still have my gymnast Barbie! It's not the Olympic one (though I wanted that one too, but I guess my parents thought that was silly since I already had one because I never got it, LoL). I have this one: http://tlccollectible.com/barbjpegcat/gymnastbarbie.jpg

So fun! I hope you win the eBay bid!

  7. This is the Barbie- they also have Teresa and some other one :) I'm not sure about the bendy waist/upper back- usually they have a bendy waist.

And if you wanted a male gymnast as well, there's a gift set that has both!

  8. Ha ha!

I had just started working at an animation company when they were working on the 1996 Olympic Gymnast Barbie commercial.

I found it on YouTube. http://youtu.be/WSMo037toRQ

With her magic tumbling ring, YES!

The transfer is terrible so you may not be able to see it, but one of the animators included a gay pride flag at about 5 seconds in (just to the right of the US flag).

  9. Somewhere in my house there is a box of my old toys, and in it I have Olympic Gymnast Barbie, plus these three gems:

These were the coolest barbies ever. And I think I may need to get those ice skating barbies now... :)

  11. Spannnyyy where have you disappeared off to? We miss your blog posts...come back to us!!!

  12. Hey Spanny, saw where you were looking for the medallion. I know the last clue mentioned bringing a lucky charm- what about the actual Lucky Charms?

Heart, stars, horseshoes, clovers and blue moons. Pots of Gold and Rainbows, and the red balloon. Is there anything at UL that makes rainbows or is shaped like a rainbow, because you might find the "pot of gold" at the end of the rainbow...or the medallion ;D

  13. A fellow noodler! Hello friend! Both UL and the park I checked out last night are on KELLOGG, ie maker of Lucky Charms. But I like your thinking. I'm going to mull over the other charms for a bit... There were a bunch of rabbits at the park the other night. I'm thinking "Should I follow them...?" I tried to. That was really hard.

  14. New clue: "Many there are in many a park;

Find the right one, and you're close to the mark.

Think big, and you'll be right in the game

When you spot a place with a special claim."

Could there be a really big tree in one of the parks? And some trees have plaques on them or are known as specific landmarks- are there any that fit that description? Good luck!

  15. YASSSSS, that is so spot on. There were a ton of trees and boulders with plaques on them. This is good. Are you in TN? What are you doing following the medallion hunt? I owe you half if I find it...

  16. Yeah, I go to school in tn. I saw the buzz about it and was curious, then was sucked in... it's certainly better than schoolwork :)

  17. and hey, i'm not the one out searching. I'm just procrastinating from essays :)

  18. It really is super fun. Getting all bundled up and destroying entire areas worth of stuff. Plus all the noodling.

    ReplyDelete
  19. It sounds like fun. I wish I were able to run around for that stuff- or that they would host one here. Alas, they don't, so I find other ways to keep from doing what I should be doing.

  20. "From miles around they came to stay

A night or two, then on their way

To reap the riches fall can yield --

The delicacy of a watery field."

It's talking about hockey teams, I think. They come from all over, stay a night or two to play a game to "reap the riches" -win the game- "fall can yield"- doesn't hockey season start in the fall?

    1. YESSS!! That is EXACTLY as I thought it. I know the visiting teams stay at the St. Paul Hotel (don't ask me how I know this.) Which is right outside the park where the whole shebang is happening! They might be very ballsy this year and hiding it right in front of everyone.

  21. Well, if you hide something right under your nose, you won't see it until you take a step back and look in the mirror,or some crap like that ;D

Good luck searching! (And hey, not judging you knowing where the teams stay- here, everyone knows where all the stars live or dine, no one really cares about bugging them though ;) )

  22. Clue No. 10
"If you are now taken aback"- this could mean surprised or taken back to an earlier year, or to an area that was already thought of but quickly dropped.

The park or area is relatively near a shoreline. There are gazebos and benches. However- it says "yours" referring to your track and says that your track requires scampering and searching. This could be a jogging track or just a path through a park. It is most likely near a neighborhood, hotel, or apartment complex ("where people dwell") and, from the way it says to follow your nose to the smell, it's either around a garbage can or buried in a bed of roses (or other fragrant flowers/bushes).

  23. This is still me- it just wouldnt let me put my I'd for some reason :P

  24. Also- don't be afraid to look around dumpsters- I'm not saying to dumpster diving- those get emptied far too often for that- but under, around, close to a dumpster- those are very fragrant.

    1. Thank you so much! I raced out right after the clue released last night. I was headed toward the hockey rink, but then I saw the biffies... and had an epiphany. Like, it's disgusting, but when I thought about it, it all made sense. But no luck.

I also looked up alternative definitions for gazebo, and I wondered if it could mean really any seating with a covering. Like a bench with a tree over it. But they probably mean a literal gazebo...

      Are you on Twitter?

  26. What about a place that actually sells gazebos and benches?

I have a twitter, but I don't use it for much
